Okay, I realize I am copying lots of stuff from other forums I've been in. But yeah. Happy times should be shared, because your happy times make me happy too! (and I hope mine make you happy)
So, to start the ball rolling;
STJ: The SEE Trek Love forum is up! Awesomeness, Lance! Now it really feels like we're getting something done.
MSTJ: My mid-year exams are over! I'll probably be more active around here for a week or so before getting back into my mugging mindset XDD

MSTJ: My brother will be in Nebraska all weekend and my mom works, so I have the house to myself for three days! **does happy dance**

So, I'm a part of this amazing group of individuals who have formed an advocacy group promoting sexual minorities amongst the otherwise heterosexual male-dominated genre of Science Fiction and Fantasy! You guys should totally check it out! These people are amazing, and the leader, Lance, is a real cutie-patootie! XD

Rewatched Star Trek with my sister, we had a lot of fun being perverted teenaged slash fanatics.
And I just downloaded the audio book tie in! I love it, it has multi-syllabic words, complex sentences and a large vocabulary!
No, I am not obssessed by intelligent people, not at all...

Joy! One of my best friends who from Chicago is going to come over next week for the whole week, and she's going to help us with the launch, and she's on board! Maybe I can even get her to register here in the forums... oh, did I mention she's going to send the word out about our project to everyone she knows in her schools when we launch? :D

Joy: I was out with some friends, and we got lost (really, hopelessly, LOST) downtown in our city. But rather than panic, we ended up pretending that my car was a starship and I was the captain, and all of my other friends were various crew members. We had some other friends following in the car behind us, so my navigator and first officer were on the phone with them, telling them that they needed to deactivate their cloaking device (because we lost them at a stoplight), and that their transmisson was in danger of being intercepted by enemy vessels. XD
but my god, was that fun.
another: I went to the library today! That always makes me happy.
oh, and even more joy: final designs for the site are nearing completion! i hope everyone will love them!
I have chocolate-vanilla-macadamia nut ice-cream. It. Is. AMAZING.

Joy: I got tickets to see Harry Potter at midnight with my homies! Midnight showings are always really, really fun. When I went to see The Dark Knight at midnight, 3 guys dressed as batman (and one inexplicably dressed as spider man) had a "duel" in the front of my theater to see which of them was the real batman, until the staff came in and sent them back to their seats. It was highly amusing. ^_^"

Yeah, my city has this HUGE Tudor mansion that actually stood in England during Shakespeare's time. Then some dude bought it in the 1930's and they took it apart and shipped it over here. Now it stands proudly on the banks of our river, and it hosts our city's Shakepeare Play Festival every summer! I work with the Festival-- we get to dress up in awesome Elizabethan clothing and talk like Elizabethans and perfrom monologues for the picnikers who come before the play. But tomorrow's my night off, so I'm going to go and be entertained, rather than doing the entertaining! And therein lies the source of my joy.

Hehe...there's a picture of us in our historically-acurate little outfits. :P
I'm the one on the far left...I SWEAR I DON'T LOOK THAT MANLY IN PERSON! Its the costume really--in Elizabethan times, women weren't allowed to be actors, and we're actors playing actors...therefore we have to play men/ young boys. Its quite crazy, really.
...Actors played actors. Who are acting. And the men played the female parts, yes? So, female actors, playing male actors, playing female characters. Wow.
Also, you look like you're the only one happy in that pic. XD

Yes, I am a female actor playing a male actor playing a female character. Wow...hahaha.
Well, the heat index was around 100 degrees that day...temperatures like that will usually make anyone grumpy. XD
We have EXTREMELY humid summers where I live, and that always make it feel a lot hotter than it actually is.

Ugh...lucky. We only get an episode once a week: 4 AM on Sundays. Thank goodness for DVRs! But I suppose there's always the fact that the CBS website had every episode available...yes, that makes me very happy. It just hurts my eyes a bit more than a TV screen. D:

I dunno...I think it's cause her essays are gold. It's like talking to Tamora Pierce on Sheroes Central. Not like meeting God, but certainly close to meeting someone from the Bible. Like...Noah. Well, maybe not Noah, but you get the idea.

Instead of Star trek today, there is some kind of Special with Leonard Nimoy Narrating about episodes of Star Trek. Its so awesome because it looks like it was filmed in the 70's.

I had the most EPIC time ever at the Harry Potter midnight showing in SF! Not only did I get to be on TV (we were in line for hours before the start of the show, and were wearing shmexy costumes), but my friend and I snuck into a 10:30 showing of Star Trek and watched the first half hour of it or so before going off to Harry Potter. And while I did enjoy the Harry Potter film, I happily had the Star Trek theme music stuck in my head the entire time. So much win...

They're GIANT movie theatres...the screens are a lot bigger, and the images sharper, and the sound is usually better, too.
The one in my city is at our Science Museum, so they usually only show documentaries and stuff there...but they do occasionally show movies like Star Trek. ^__^
And ours is dome-shaped, so when you see a movie there, not only is it HUGE and beautiful, but its almost 360 around you!!! GAH...now I'm really upset that I missed their showing of Star Trek...

You should spend more time with time. Male friends are awesomeness. You get the really witty jokes from them. And, at least here in Singapore, guys can be a lot more sensitive than you might think. And they're more fun!
The problem comes when they tell you, let's go for this movie, because so and so is gonna be in it and she's hot. That's when you really know you're becoming one of the guys. O.o
art.nerd
07-17-2009, 01:29 PM
Yeah, well, of the three I have, 2 of them are really sensitive and nice, and the third one...well, he's very obviously a guy. Like, a majority of our conversations include quoting movies and making inappropriate sex jokes. But he's fun.
And its not like I'm around guys and I just don't want to be friends with them-- its more that there just aren't many of them around! Pretty much all of my classes (I'm in a special arts program, so I have classes with most of the same people.) are full of girls. And there's nothing wrong with girls, don't get me wrong...they're just...not boys. :)
Catty-the-spy
07-17-2009, 06:00 PM
I have (or...had) plenty of guy friends, and only one or two girl friends. Nothing against girls (seeing as I am a girl) but most of the girls I went to school with were...bitchy, for lack of a better word.
Of those guy friends, only one had a crush on me, and I was not interested in him (i had a crush on one of my other friends). Despite this, they never forgot that I was a girl. They even mentioned that there were some things they didn't talk about around me because I was a girl (or, because I was a year or two younger than them, but I was a year or two younger than everybody, so...).
(One of my friends often made comments about our table at lunch being more diverse than the diversity club -- a person who was half Israeli, one from Korea, one from Thailand, two white, two black, one female. /random comment)
I probably should become like most of the people I know and get a Facebook. My mom has one, so why not me...? This way I can come into contact with friends that I had not come into contact with in a while....

I know that line so well. I fought myself up to be one of the guys though, so I'm treated about the same. The only thing they won't do with me is rough around, but it probably also has to do with the fact that I still look like I'm in middle school.
They're all thoroughly convinced I was simply born the wrong gender. :P
Terry Shayar
07-18-2009, 02:55 AM
I agree that girls can get rather bitchy. And a lot more cruel than guys. I have a lot more guy friends because I'm actually a lot more nervous around girls than guys. And they've never really told me that I'm born the wrong gender, it's just that certain things I didn't think I'd hear them talking about around me, I get to hear you know? And then I'll be like, way too much information guys! But it's still fun anyway.
Catty-the-spy
07-18-2009, 03:04 AM
For me, the tmi is the other way around. I'd gripe about something and they'd be all "Stop talking! I didn't need to hear that." and I'd feel pretty malicious and keep talking. (Have you ever seen Dirty Jobs? It's a tv show about...Dirty Jobs. One involved castrating sheep, and I had fun describing it to nearly every guy I knew -- including a teacher or two -- before my friends started warning people. Twas fun.)
The only thing they wanted to know was when I was due for cheeseflux. I could be pretty nasty during (and a little while before) cheeseflux. I'm pretty sure they were better at predicting it than me...which is really...odd...I think.
Me, the wrong gender? Pffft...I repeatedly reminded them that I had the better gender. (And they kept agreeing with me, probably so I wouldn't hurt them. I could be very menacing. ((I once threatened to use a stapler on a very sensitive piece of anatomy. I would have done it, too -- the guy was being a butthole. I was also mid-cheeseflux, so that might be why it turned into a joke...until I started carrying aronud a stapler...)))

Just some general happiness...
I was watching some early episodes of TOS with a friend of mine who is even more obsessed with K/S than I am (I'll get her on this forum eventually) and we happened to be watching The Man Trap (a not particularly slashy episode) with a fifteen year old boy (younger than us college-age ladies). About twenty minutes into the episode, the boy was like, "Does Kirk have a crush on Spock?"
And my friend of course answered, "Yes." And a little girlish squeeing was had.
And then I showed him the shore leave back massage scene and he promised to advertise it on his facebook. Now I have to befriend him on facebook and get him to sign the petition...seems like he probably would...

My mom asked me if I liked it better than Star Trek (after seeing it 3 times)...XD
Let's just say if I hadnt seen ST, I would be a LOT more excited about HBP. :)
Today's Joy: After working so hard and finishing all of my summer school work, I have decided to reward myself by having some "me-time" and treating myself to a day of used-book shopping. :)
I'm trekking all the way across the county (well, technically its in another county) to this one giant used book store that I haven't been to in years. I'm very excited!

STJ: The new song that Muse has been using to play hide and seek with us is finally completed! Sounds really weird man... it's like this mix of Western and stereotypical Middle-Eastern influences together. But Muse music always sounds weird at first, before starting to grow on me. That's how I started to like all their B-sides and lesser known stuff. *sighs* I can't wait for their first single - Uprising - to come out!

The last episode of Merlin I watched, I spent the entirety of it curled up in front of the laptop giggling madly. Arthur spends the episode putting himself in mortal danger for a servant, someone he'd only met a few days prior and had disliked, at that. Merlin spends it saving Arthur's ass as he always does, despite, again, only meeting Arthur a few days prior and disliking him.
Either it's bad writing, or it's slashy. As it's the BBC, I prefer to go with slashy.

(and just so you know, I'm not taking summer school because I'm stupid or anything--I just like to get ahead. sorry, but I'm always paranoid that people will think that. :))
And that's particulary exciting because I put off all of my assignments til the last minute and really didn't put a whole lot of effort into any of the work. 0__o
Hey, its summer--who actually wants to concentrate on homework?
I WENT TO THE USED BOOK STORE TODAY. I am now in possesion of-
The New Voyages 1&2
The Wrath of Khan novel
The Star Trek-X-Men Crossover novel, bought merely for hilarity
Federation
Nemisis novelization
AND the Insurrection novel. I also have several new Sims 2 expansion packs, Pets and Holiday stuff. I am dying of joy, and swimming in almost 40 bucks worth of books. -blush-

-The Prometheus Design, by Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath
-Spock's World, by Diane Duane
-Star Trek: The Motion Picture, by Gene Roddenberry (I squee'd.)

My tv is totally encouraging my trekkieness. A few weeks ago I turned it on to see an episode of TOS playing on TV Land. No one in my family watches anything that comes on TV Land, so I have no idea why it was even on that channel.
I turned it on today and what is the first thing I see? William Shatner talking to Conan. Yesterday I walk in on my brother watching Teen Titans just as the villain says something about tribbles. I start recording Futurama and the first episode it records is the one where they go to that one planet with the cast of TOS.

I read some really disquieting things while lurking in an LJ community. It pissed me off enough that I was able to write some angst that I've been struggling with in my story. One step closer to that finish line....
For some reason, I need to be depressed/sick/angry/annoyed/emotionally drained/etc. to write angst well. Unless I get a boatload of inspiration. Weird.
Still, my aggravation was put to good use. Just goes to show you that idiots and buttholes can be usefull for something other than target practice. Yay writing!

OKAY, so I've pretty much had the best day I've ever had...in a while, at least.
It all started when I started painting a mural for my client today-- I got paid $100 to paint! And that was very nice.
Then I came home, washed up, and went right back out to meet up with some friends to go shopping.
We stopped and ate lunch-- I had falafel and A LOT of diet coke...it was all freaking delicious.
After that, we went to the record store, and looked around in their used videos.
I had just about given up, and was walking away when I saw THIS little gem aaaaaaall the way on the top shelf:
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/3927/boxscm.jpg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/2638/1022422.jpg
Yeah, that's right: All 6 TOS films. (Still in thier original plastic wrap!) Only cost me $12...it pretty much made my day. :)
And then we continued shopping and having all sorts of merry fun.
Then it was time for me to go to work...which is fun for me! ("work" is running around in Elizabethan clothing and performing Shakespeare for people. ^__^) And that was great fun.
Then I come home to find that my sister decided to be nice to me and bought me a McCoy action figure! It made me very happy. He comes with a bridge station (going to ignore the fact that Bones doesn't actually *have* one of those...) a sweet chair, a hypo, a datapad, a phaser, a pimpin' utility belt, and he wears his sexy cadet uniform! ^____^
So all in all, one of my better days. :)

"Moot," Kirk said. "So if that's such a logical argument, why haven't the SFPS let you go?"
"I have found humans to be argumentative."
"No, we're not."
"Yes, you..." The Vulcan hesitated, raised an eyebrow.
^One of my favorite lines. XD This book has me in love. Seriously. And yeah, the second book needs to be right here, in my hands. I'm already reading the first one to death. I fear I will be able to simply read this in my head sooner than not. The joy of it is, today nobody is calling me each time I pick it up. Peace and quiet and wonderfulness.

The other night, I hung out with a friend of mine I haven't seen in more than a year. Best night ever? He also encouraged me to write more slash and smut, including and not limited to a naruto fanfiction I all but abandoned years ago, and a BL comic starring pretty boy martial artists, based entirely on stories he's told me about how much he hates this one hot instructor that I'm pretty sure likes boys as much as he does. He's allowed me to go wild on his character, and expects plenty of sex to occur, so I don't want to disappoint.

Also, I feel I must share: Last night, or rather, early this morning, I had the most awesome dream ever. I was about two take two courses at my HS or college (not sure which one) and guess who was teaching them? That's right. Pinto. My mom was sitting at our kitchen table with me, going over the syllabi, and telling me that they were teachers now, and real human beings, and I was to treat them as such. I basically heard none of what she was saying, as I was looking over the syllabi myself and having an inner freakout. Then I believe I actually got to meet Professor!Zach, in a meeting of some sort. I don't believe Chris was at the meeting, but the end details were fuzzy.
I remember waking up and feeling like I'd actually met Zach. The realization that I hadn't met him and his adorable prof glasses was weird, and upsetting. But I felt really happy the rest of the morning, so that counts for something.
Hope everyone else is still experiencing Joyful moments, especially since SEE is back in action!

PS: and now my RA and I are on commenting on my status on facebook, dissecting how would we react if this really happened. I love my RA. She's a hardcore Pinto girl as well. They're hard to come by around here.
