But have you ever Worn a Star Trek uniform? Either for a Con or something equally fun? I recently found a picture of myself in my old TNG Star Trek uniform, so I thought if would be fun to post it.

I'm the one on the right, in the doctors uniform with Green hair. My sister is in the red. We wore this for Halloween, so we had to wear winter clothes underneath :P

Feel Free to post your own! I didn't know where to put this, but since the uniforms in Star Trek change so often I thought it should go here.

I have never. I would love to find a costume, or just a regular shirt with the little...symbol in the right place. Do you know a place to get them?

I'm always thinking about sewing my own uniform... like the small red dresses the girls got to wear in TOS :D
That would be definitely a major GEEK!WIN

(and then I'm going to wear it on FedCon hehe.)

I so want to! I've been doing some research so I can have a Star Trek costume (a close replica) by Halloween. There is also this cool tutorial on how to modify you Phaser to have a cool Blue-ray lazer. Too awsome.

Beeeeeeeeew~

When I was one years old there was a Star Trek convention in my city (Winnipeg). My parents dressed me up.

I don't think I was so amused at the time. Looking back, though, I find it funny.

I just came back from my local Comic book Store and I saw the T-shirts that everyone was talking about that are kind of like the Uniforms for 25$. But while I was looking at other things, I found that they where also SELLING the actual Uniforms! I came close to buying a Spock costume (So close!) but it was almost 50$ and I'm kind of...working only part time...and have very little money for it T_T
They where also selling tribbles, that where like 40$. They apparently vibrated and make noise but I couldn't figure out how to get them to work.

Three days ago I went to Hot Topic and bought a short-sleeve blue shirt with the star trek logo on the left breast. Yay me!

Okay, amazing pictures there!
I'm having a dilemma which I hope some of you guys may be able to help me out with...So I've been invited to a fancy dress party with the theme being the letter 'R', so of course, the first thing that came to my head was 'Romulan!'. I have no experience with Star Trek costumes and have a bit of a deadline, don't suppose anyone has tips on how to make homemade pointy ears and such...? :D
(Cookies for anyone with advice, of course!)

Hm, I know alot of people simply buy them, and then hand-paint (plus makeup when wearing) them to make sure they match their skin tone. I don't know how long your deadline is, but I'm assuming it's short enough where ordering is out of the question.

I've never worked with the material, but you might look at craft foam? Use that in combination with latex rubber to get the desired result. Of course you'll still need paint, makeup, and probably something like spirit gum in order to get them working and attached. If you do want to do something that'll last a little longer and probably look better, make a mold with clay, then latex it up, and go from there. (Try and make sure the paint's water-based though.) I also know pf people who soak toilet paper until it's gooey, and then mold it into the shape she wants so it's easy to dig out the paper once the latex has dried.

Lol...they're not all that accurate (short sleeved n fabric type n stuff) but Kellog's had some promotion where you could mail in a token from their cereals along with 10 dollars and get a starfleet shirt (blue, red, and gold)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/SugarFang/spocketteXD.jpg

I went with science/medical of course xD I kinda wish I had gotten the red and gold ones too..but I doubt any stores are still selling the cereal boxes with the tokens...:( they did a promotion with starfleet badges too..and usb drive o_O

anyway..not exactly a uniform, but uniform inspired :) and pretty darn cheap

They've stopped selling those boxes in LA. Had one in my house for a while but I chose to wait. What a horrible decision. I might have to buy one of ebay. I went into Hot Topic the other day and all they had in there was Harry Potter stuff. No Star Trek. It made me sad.

Starfleet flash drive bracelets XD! That's ridiculous. I can just imagine walking around school with one of those on :D!

Elle
08-18-2009, 10:08 PM
Yeah, I totally didn't order one of those flash drives. -cough- And I'm also not going to order a uniform pattern when I have money to make one. -coughs more-

:D! Well, I went through Target trying to find a flashdrive that perfectly matched the colour of Spock's uniform. I finally found it and now I cherish it. And I'm getting a Star Trek bag for school. If only I didn't have to where a uniform then I'd probably go out and buy the shirt and wear it to school.

Hehe, I've never worn an uniform, but I'd like to! Tho I think it's not so much fun if you're all alone and none of your friends hardly knows what Star Trek even is -.-" I'd so like to go to a convention one day!

Very nice! My sister and I will be cosplaying Kirk and Spock for Halloween (hopefully, if we can find costumes). There's a store near us that seels the shirts, but they're not very good quality.

Does anyone have any suggestions where we could get long-sleeved unform shirts?

Konstance

internet is your friend... that's where i bought my costume's pattern, my communicator and phaser kit... and my boots :P

Tubular Fox

In the end, I think we're just going to buy blue and gold shirts at some store and se the collars and emblems ourselves. Then we need boots.

We might also make dress uniforms, too, because we're walking my best friend's little sister around for Halloween and she's going to be an alien (hoepfully, if my firend can convince her mom...). She'll be an ambassador, and we'll be Federation escorts. XD
