Okay...well, maybe not. :P

For starters, my name is Ryan. (You may call me Ryan, Ryantha, art.nerd, or whatever you like. :))

I'm going into 11th grade, and I love love love art. :D
(As my username suggests)

And I'm a sucker for list-making, so...

Likes:

Art
Oscar Wilde
Star Trek
Astronomy/Cosmology
Philosophy
Nature
Sushi
Art
Music
Art
Books
Beaches
Thinking
Talking
Nerdiness
Shakespeare
LOST
Stephen Fry
Bunnies and puppies
okay, you get the idea. XD

DO NOT likes:

Fire
Wet Paper
Criticism (yes, that makes me sound like a total snob...but I can be one at times.)

I feel that it is INCREDIBLY unfair that I was not born in he 1950's, because I would do anything to have been a teen in the 60's...but I act like I am anyways. XD

I'm a pretty spiritual person, and am a practicing Buddhist.

I'm a flower child a heart, and am not afraid to show it.

I've had a crazy obsession with Space since I was 8 years old.
My grandpa gave me an Astronomy book for my birthday that year, and I fell head-over-heels.
I really can't describe why I love Space so much...its kind of a...feeling that it gives me.
Almost like being high. XD
No, no seriously, hear me out: Just trying to comprehend ALL that is, all that exists is just...mind-boggling, and it makes your head spin.
And I love it: I find it comforting to know that I'm just an infintecimal part of something that massive, that great, and that all-encompassing. :)
Hehe...hope I didn't creep you out. :3 *ends rant/tangent*

I really don't place much value in material possesions...they're nice, but not essential.

And now to show my normal teenager side:

Music:

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND (my parents played thier CDs a lot when I was a baby, and I am still in love with them to this day. <3
Classical music (I'm partial to piano peices, but most anything is nice.)
Musicals (Some favorites are: Spring Awakening, Wicked, West Side Story, Gypsy, The Lion King, Avenue Q, etc.)
Pretty much anything from the 20's or 30's...preferably jazz.

TV/Movies:

LOST
Star Trek (TOS and TNG)
Strangers With Candy
House
Dead Poets Society (ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE)
V for Vendetta
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Edward Scissorhands
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Pretty In Pink

Books:

A Separate Peace (ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOK)
Anything by Oscar Wilde or Shakespeare
Harry Potter
Lord of the Flies
Most classics...

And I feel that my username kind of sums up my two halves: I have a passion for art, but I'm also a total nerd at the same time. I have a thirst for knowledge, and embrace everything that I am able to learn. But at the same time, I love to create new things and show the world amazing things that they would never even have dreamed of. I think the blending of those two halves begets something wonderful.

I suppose that's what life is about, really: finding the happy medium between all the things that you are and can be, And for now, I feel like I'm right where I'm supposed to be. :)

You are awesome Ryan! Your love of classic literature makes me giddy since I am a English major and nerd. I love art but have no talent for it ...at all. lol But thats what we have you here for!

Hi again Ryan!

I wish I was born in the 50s too! The sixties were an awesome decade; though I'm sure if I had lived through them I would've just been a nice little suburban child vaguely aware of all the amazing music and cultural explosion that was going on (sad but probably true). However, I may have caught Star Trek on TV when it first aired, which would probably be enough.

I also like your description of your fascination with space, the final frontier. I like electrons for similar reasons (replace "big" and "all encompassing" with "small" and "fundamental").

And Edward Scissorhands is the best. Also, V for Vendetta.
