What was your favorite part of the movie? I've got two:

1. When Leonard Nimoy appeared. Almost everyone in the theater gasped and started clapping when they saw him everytime I saw the film, which was ten times. (I am so broke)

2. The very end of the movie as the Enterprise takes off into space. It was so brilliant.

The Part where Spock Prime Appeared to Kirk, and when he Appeared to Spock.

And also, the non existent Scene with William Shatner. Read about it here. (http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1611116/story.jhtml) Seriously, after I read about it I cried my eyes out. I wish they left it in. Maybe they will do something like it in the next movie.

Oh holy crap, WHY didn't they leave that in! There better be something brilliant with Shatner in the next film to make up for it

Chekov's accent! How did I forget that? After I saw it a few times, my friends and I noticed he could pronounce his V's just fine.

I sort of hope he gets to be in a fist fight in the next movie.

Chekov's accent, most def. ^o^
Kirk looking wasted whether he was drunk or not at several points in the movie.
Leonard Nimoy. OBBY.
Any time Spock and Kirk were interacting. ;D
SPOCK CHOKING KIRK. ZOMG. /it was just great to see Kirk emotionally compromising Spock ;D Because we all know he's the only one who can. SCREW YOU nu!UHURA
Ninja badass Sulu.
Kirk and Sulu's fall. It was kind of adorable, to be honest. Kirk's a giant caring badass marshmallow, and we all know it.
Chekov saying "I CAN DO ZAT!" and then hauling ass down to the transporter. XDD
Spock doing the Vulcan nerve-pinch on Kirk.
Spock saying "Live long and prosper" to the council, and you could just hear the "BITCH" at the end.
Spock and Kirk in the Narada. They make an epic team. ^o^
Bones stabbing Kirk with hypos. XD

I posted that link. It's cool, though. I wonder where these were taken. I believe it was in Cali sometime in January. That's what I read somewhere. It's nice to know that their friendship transcended screen.

One of my favorite parts HAD to be when Bones mentioned Kentucky. Because of course I live there (here?) and knowing that a half-vulcan has heard of Kentucky makes me squee. XD

WHOA. how did I forget the "I CAN DO ZAT!"????

XD "BITCH" at the end.. lawl!!
I <3 Chekov. I could just cuddle him like he was a kitten. Regardless of our matching ages and his far superior intellect.
YOU KNOW IT WAS THERE.

Yeah, loved Chekov's accent & eff-off-and-die!Spock
also really liked bit in the begining when Spock was being teased by those brats and attacked them.

Favorite moments:

1) Chekov + accent
2) Spock Prime - I heard someone beside me whisper LOUDLY - " Spock..." and I was like, wert? Before I got it as the scene progressed, and watched the awesome mindmeld and like totally got blown away by the scene and the epic idea of K/S creeping in.
3) Bones + Kirk + blind in one eye + numb tongue + swollen hands = epicness!
4) Dogfight FTW. Well, not really dogfight. Close enough.
5) RED MATTER.
6) Spock + Amanda emo-ness.
7) Kid!Spock and Kid!Kirk. SO ADORABLE.
8) Bones + fear of flying in shuttle
9) Sulu - Fencing.
10) The entire opening scene: THE BIRTH OF JAMES TIBERIUS KIRK!

Whee. Top 10 favorite scenes.

Edit: I now add in the cut Shatner scene as a bonus favorite scene that never was.

I'm not going to lie. One of the funniest parts of the movie was Scotty's little alien. That thing was so cute. I wanted to give it a huge hug when Scotty beamed out. :(

Also, with that little guy, the quote: "Get down!"

The two parts of the film that made me cry: the beginning when George dies. The tension/crying/angst between him and Winona made me tear up. Also, at the end when Leonard Nimoy reads the "Space, the final frontier," bit. Tore. Me. Up. I know its not a sad moment, but sentimental/nostalgic things like that make me a crying baby. Guh.

Also. The Score. FTW. The end.

Aw, that's sweet. Nostalgic for the original show?

And I still need to buy the score. Who wrote it again?

I <3 Kirk :D

I mostly noticed how much he got choked. Which was all the time. But now that you mention it...

He must have a weakness for such things.

My favourite quote of nuTrek has to be...

Spock: A curious metaphor, doctor. If I'm not mistaken, a stallion must first be broken before it can achieve its full potential.

It absolutely reeks of sexual tension! Not to lower the tone or anything but...*ahem*I'd like to see Spock breaking in Kirk... *ahem*

Well, it would be really quite pointless for me to say all of my favorite moments-- I would probably just end up typing up an entire transcript of the movie...

HOWEVER, there is something I can single out as being utterly awesome: the soundtrack. I can't get over how much I love it!
Especially "Enterprising Young Men" and the music from the end credits. (yes, all 9 minutes of it. XD)
I think they did a nice job blending the TOS theme with the new score during the credits-- I like it.
And the parts with the erhu! (that they used for the Vulcan scenes) Wow...seriously, that music makes me go all misty-eyed. Its just so sad and beautiful. I love it!

Okay, I'm done now. :)

I asked some of my friends who have watched all TOS and its movies and apparently that's a recurring thing where every movie Kirk somehow ends up hanging off cliffs, usually after rock climbing.

-Spock angry
-little!Spock and little!Kirk
-Chekov's accent--"Wulcan"
-Scotty's accent
-those little green aliens of Scotty's
-Spock's face after Kirk slaps his whatever--priceless
-the red-shirted guy dying
-"I'm a doctor, not a physicist!"
-"I CAN FIX ZAT"

Well at least he doesn't do Shatner's patented back pound move all the freaking time.

My favorite part has to be, hm. For some reason I really like the shot where Spock stands in front of the old Vulcan guys at the Science Academy, when he holds up his hand and says "Live long and prosper" for the first time. I don't know, something about the angle, and Spock's total coolness.

Also, on the bridge where Spock tells Kirk to get out of the chair. And when he calls guards to escort Kirk off the bridge, and has to stop the ensuing scuffle with the Vulcan nerve pinch. So cool!

Does anyone else remember the part when Kirk first bursts onto the bridge to warn about Nero, Spock, Kirk, and Pike where all talking over each other. I tried to focus in on Kirk, and what it sounded like was him saying 'I really liked (unintelligible) with you to and I really would like to do it again with you.' To Spock.

Does this (http://www.novamov.com/video/ibwuw74pq8hng) work for you? I'm sorry about the bad quality; it is pirated, after all. If not, though, also try this (http://www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/star_trek/)--it has some other links you can try.

Woohoo! So. Just rewatched the movie, and I was so nerdy I took notes. Yes, yes I did. Mostly quotes, but ones full
of win.

~"Live long and prosper." (At the Vulcan Science Academy. To be interpreted as "Fuck you.")

~"However, if crew morale is better served by my roaming the halls weeping, I will gladly defer to your medical expertise."

~"Out of the chair." (For anyone wanting to find it, on the one I was watching it was approximately 68 minutes in.)

~"Wiktor wiktor two."

~Scotty's sandwiches.

~"Shut up! You can eat a bean and you're full!"

~"I am...Spock."
"...bullshit."

~"Are you from the future?
"Yeah. He is. I'm not."
"...do they still have sandwiches there?"

~That little whimper from the green alien when Scotty and Jim leave

~"Come with me...cupcake"

~Hah! I watched the slap again, and you can't see precisely where Kirk slapped Spock. So it so could've been his ass. Hah!

Oh how I wish I had volume... Cause I've just realised another part I adore and I so want to see it, but without volume, its kinda... not so great. Y'know that part just after Spock admits he is emotionally compromised and leaves the bridge? And then the bit where he comes back on? Yeah, I love that part. There is something so incredibly awesome about Spock, I like almost every scene with him, but that one really does stand out.

Oh where, oh where to begin? Let's see...

1) The whole Kirk's birth sequence. I cry every single time I watch that. Hits too close to home since a) my dad was a navy man and as such almost killed a few times when I was younger and b) my cousin deployed to Iraq just after his baby was born.

2)Bones. God, I love watching that man on screen, especially the scene where Spock tells him he's now CMO. "Tell me something I don't know." I don't know why but that line cracks me up every single time.

3)The sheer tension between Spock and Kirk. It's like, until the Narada, they're standing on the edge of a knife. You know that something has got to give and it's fun watching them go over the edge.

4) Sulu and the sword. No explanation necessary.

5) Nimoy showing up. I saw the movie for the first time on its opening weekend and it was amazing when he came on screen. The entire audience broke out into applause and standing ovations. I personally cried because his tone was just so...heartbroken and lonely and stuff. Made me want to seriously hug him. (I am such a hypocrite since my main problem with Uhura is that she went all touchy-feely on Spock in the turbolift when he clearly left to regain control of himself and Spock+touching=not good. Is it just me or was the only time he willingly touched someone (not beat up) when he took his mother's hands in the beginning?)

I'd go on but it's late and I have to be in bed.

Points well made, everyone. I like Loyal's alot as well. Mikkiness, how does Spock come back on the bridge after that? I can't remember. Does he seem apologetic towards Kirk? Saw the movie only twice, forgot a lot of it. :X

Also, I'm so worrisome and weird. It seems to me that whenever a film comes out on DVD the buzz for it seems to die. How can I maintain my ST buzz after the DVD is out? Besides analyzing every K/S scene, perhaps.

Please promise me you all will remain obsessed and on this site after the DVD release! D:

I promise my obsession isn't going anywhere! :p

Of course I loved the mindmeld scene *guh* but there was also the scene where Kirk and Spock meet Scotty. It is this scene that makes me believe that the writers would be more receptive to our petition than we might think. Why? Because Scotty mentions beaming a grapefruit. Now, by itself, that has no significance. But, after he says it, the camera cuts to Kirk, and then Spock. Still, no significance. Unless you've read this: http://cosmicduckling.com/grapefruit.html

Maybe I'm grasping at straws. It's possible. But Scotty could've said ANYTHING... but he chose to mention beaming a grapefruit. It made me wonder if they snuck a k/s easter egg for those of us who knew to look for it...

:D ah the bickering i could see these two doing... every scene with them together brings a smile to my face, especially when Spock chokes Kirk. something definately happened between them (i mean how could it not? Spock had extended contact with Jim's neck for crying out loud. a bit close to the meld points to not get any kind of transference... stop me now im babbling. ^_^), and i'm fairly certain Sarek was not the one to bring Spock out of his rage. there is just too much time between Sarek saying his name and Spock actually releasing Jim's neck. and did anyone catch the (not so) subtle glance down to Jim's lap before letting go of his neck? hm? no one? maybe its just me looking too into things again... damn

Ooh! Mmhmm. Heeheehee. We are probably reading way too much into it. But did anyone notice that barely anyone touched Spock? Ignoring Uhura, I think Jim was one of the only ones to touch Spock--the slap--and I think that two of the only times Spock touched anyone willingly was when he took his mother's hand in the beginning, and when he choked Jim.
