Are we using Starfleet rankings, normal naval rankings (I've been told that the first 5 SF rankings --Ensign, Lt Cmdr, Cmdr, Cpt -- are similar to naval rankings), air force rankings...what?

((I do believe they rank theirs differently. We could even pull a "Patterns of Force".))

I'm asking because I €want to see how much fun can be had (and it certainly sounds fun).
Would the rankings be based on post count or participation or enthusiasm or some interesting combination or what?

Ranks are complex lol! Then again, I never did quite understand all of them and they changed during shows and so forth. There were also noncom positions as well as Chain of Command (Line). After this they also hold staff positions, such as Science Officer, Communications, CMO, etc, related to their field of expertise.
