Okay, so in Friday night’s meeting, I volunteered to head the making of (RL) advertisements for SEE. (i.e. flyers, pamphlets, and other such things.)
So I’m asking you guys: what kind of publications should we have?
Should we have just a bunch of different flyers? Pamphlets? Half-sheets? Quarter-sheets? Trifolding brochures? All? XD
And would anyone have any suggestions for the writing that goes on them? (Meaning, what information is MOST important to communicate to the viewer immediately?)
I can provide the designs and artwork if needed, but feel free to come up with your own as well!
Whatever advertisements I put together would be available on here for anyone to download, print, and use. :)

And I was thinking, maybe while rebooting the site design, we could add in a “Promote” link in the navigation bar that leads to a page where you can download the flyers and such.
Maybe we could also have icons and banners on that page that people could use online.
You know, just so we have something official for people to use.

Thoughts?

I think what'd we need would depend on the situation, but to make things easier at least a rough plan ahead of time for several types would be a good idea.

And definitely have a shorter (somewhat bolded in areas) mission statement on there, perhaps split it up a bit over the paper. Lots of words turns people off on advertisments. They want information that can be gotten quickly and without effort. It also needs to be eye-catching with a flowing sort of format.

Yeah, and I think having like official ads and flyers will make us much more professional and cohesive XD

Flyers (with not too much text) would be good to have and pass around and whatnot. (I would probably keep a stash with me so that if I was randomly chatting up someone who seemed interested in Star Trek and gay rights, I could just pass along the info.) I think just some eye catching art + the mission statement + this website's URL would be sufficient.

Last year at my school, this kid was trying to promote the local radio station he worked at and the whole thing turned into a cultural explosion at my school: and he marketed his radio station with small square bumper stickers with the station's logo and its website. Little glossy stickers are good because people are always looking for something shmexy to stick on their laptops or notebooks or whatever. Just a thought.
